Vintage Cars Galore!

28th Sep 2017

Primary 3 and 4 have been finding out about the invention of the motor car. We talked about cars we have at home and the journeys we make now and compared this with cars through the last 100 years.

With the help of local people Primary 3 and 4 got to experience vintage cars up close. We first looked at a vintage Ford which belongs to Ian McMullan; it is a 1970s Ford Escort. We then looked at a bottle green vintage MG owned by a past pupil of Seaview, which just happened to be parked in the car park. The Davey Brown tractor that sits pride of place in the village provided a super insight into vintage farm machinery. Today, Stephen McWhirter (http://www.starcarhire.co.uk/1959-chevrolet-apache-739-hire-northern-ireland) from Ballygalley brought us a 1959 Chevrolet for us to see. It was so beautiful. The children asked Stephen some very interesting questions including Noah, who asked if he could buy it!

'I loved the Davey Brown, because it a piece of farm machinery.' Hugh

'I loved the vintage MG because it's so shiny.' Noah

'The Chevrolet had a place to sit on the back. It was a pick up!' Maria

'It was so cool looking at the cars.' Hugh
