A Shared Education Day at the Beach

31st May 2017

Today CIPS and Carnalbanagh joined us to take part is some super fun activities.

First we went to visit the beach to explore and engage in a new environment and this helped to develop new relationships between the children. The children listened to the story of the rainbow fish. They discussed how the rainbow fish didn't like to share and that this wasn't nice. In groups the children gathered natural materials and created a group sandcastle. They then embellished their sandcastle using shells and other materials Mrs Moran had provided from the classroom.

On return from the beach the children took part in three activities. In the water tray the children had to search for shell numbers and they were asked lots of different questions! Some children were fantastic! Ryan from Carnalbanagh made some very difficult sums! In the sand tray the children had to dig for shell sounds and create CVC and CVCC words. Michaela from Seaview made the word 'Starfish' which she said was in the Rainbow Fish.

With the staff from Carnalbanagh the children had to create an under the sea mural. The children co-operated together and had fun manipulating the various materials,

With Mrs McAloon from CIPS, the children enjoyed a seaside yoga session which helped develop their gross and fine motor coordination skills.
